Hello my bookish peeps
Time for our weekly catch up with a book review :) I was in a space and place where I needed to read something but without the urgency to rush through it to see the ending. Fair enough I can't remember everything that happened the first time around as I last read this book in 2013, but I am loving diving back into this world of Daniel, Luce and all the other lovable peeps that go with the Fallen world.

* What it's about *
How many lives do you need to live before you find someone worth dying for?
In the aftermath of what happened at Sword & Cross, Luce has been hidden away by her cursed angelic boyfriend, Daniel, in a new school filled with Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans. Daniel promises she will be safe here, protected from those who would kill her. At the school Luce discovers what the Shadows that have followed her all her life mean – and how to manipulate them to see into her other lives. Yet the more Luce learns about herself, the more she realizes that the past is her only key to unlocking her future . . . and that Daniel hasn't told her everything. What if his version of the past isn't actually the way things happened . . . what if Luce was really meant to be with someone else?
* My thoughts *
Oh the beauty of reading a book the second time around... I really took my time to notice some details a bit more in depth and you really gotta love it when the title actually makes more sense.
One of the things I really did truly appreciate this time around was the theme of duality. That sometimes things aren't as black and white as we think it is, but more grey when the situation is unclear.
So many yummy characters to talk about.. I'll try keep it short and sweet!
Luce: So here are we are with Luce as she tries to figure out this world she is thrown into, and just supposed to accept because its part of the angelic history. She really loves Daniel with all her heart and soul but she wants to know why? What are they fighting for? Is it all worth is and is she worth it? A love story that truly is tormenting her, and to be honest I don't blame her. A girl has to have answers sometimes!
I did get a little bit annoyed with Luce this time around, but also understood why she was getting so frustrated with Daniel and all the mystery. How do you figure out what you are supposed to figure out when no one will tell you what it is you are supposed to figure out.... and then they get mad when you actually find a way to figure it out... what a messy situation to be in.
Daniel: my heart aches for Daniel. As much as I love Miles... I will probably always be Team Daniel. All the love, heartbreaks and trials he has had to go through over the various lifetimes... just to protect the girl he loves, who now can't make up her mind if she feels the same way? Talk about some torment on both sides. I really do love the little added extra excerpt of Daniel's first sighting of Luce at Sword & Cross *big hearts*
Miles: Oh boy... I have such a soft spot for Miles, who is goofy, funny, sweet, kind and just an all round nice guy. It is just bad luck and timing. Falling for the one girl in history that is a part of the most well known love story between heaven and hell.. literally! Miles is just so real and always the same in a good way. Reliable, always there and so easy to trust.
I wish we got to know Daniel as well as we get to know Miles in this part of the story.
Cam: I adore you. There are parts in Fallen when you come across so easy to dislike if we didn't understand love you more than the pretense and facade you put up. Without giving too much away, his heart is always in the right place and he is more forgiving than he comes across.
...ok last couple of charcaters that are worth a mention I swear...
Francesca & Steven: I love them as a couple and they really are the ultimate portrayal of duality. They are so interesting!
Roland: Barring Cam... he is probably my favourite 'demon' in the story. I do wonder why he switched sides and what his story is with Arriane *hmmm*
Shelby: ah I love this girl but not as much as my original #1 girl Arriane. Both have so much spunk and sass.
