I know I have been a bit scarce with my blog posts and reviews, but there has been so much going on in my life that it was a bit of a challenge to time manage it all.
Herewith another great book by the awesome JD Brown.
If you missed my first review, check it out here.
I came across this book on Instagram. It was a sponsored promotional book and the first book in the series was free. I read up a bit about the author and her two cents behind the story with the blurb and I figured why not try a new author with an intriguing main character.
(See below for links and bio).
FYI... if you buy the book directly from her website versus on amazon or another website... it's cheaper! #yourewelcome
So let's get down to business, and get to the good stuff!!!

* What it's about *
Ema Marx wishes her life would go back to normal, but there’s nothing normal about being a Romani-Vampyre with an ancestor who wants you dead. Apollyon is back, wreaking havoc on the lives of everyone she cares about while plotting her demise.
Ema thought she would find a new best friend in her trainer, Bridget, until the exotic vampire vies for Jesu’s attention. Jesu can date who he wants, right? Ema has more important things to worry about, like honing her powers.
When Apollyon’s thugs appear out of the shadows to attack her, Ema knows it’s time to take action. But everyone else has other plans in mind. One thing is for certain, being under house arrest in the German vampyre king’s castle was not part of her plan to save the day.
* My thoughts *
Another great read from Ms Brown. There were parts that I was a bit conflicted about in the story line and somethings that went on, but overall I kept wanting to see what was going to happen, which is a better indicator of a great read.
She ended the book with a big cliffhanger, but guess that is the hook to make sure you read the next book. I can definitely see growth in her writing and the development of the characters.
Favourite character is definitely still Jesu.
Least favourite character is probably Brigit. I can understand her side, but guess you can;t love all the characters all the time.
Initially wasn't sure of the changing POV's between characters (it changes every book), but it is quite a treat to get to 'know' the other characters as the series evolves, creating more depth to the story line and giving the overall world more 'juiciness.'
All I am saying is that Ms Brown best be done with book 5 by the time I get to the end of book 4.
